History
About
Open Heavens is an idea that was born in Heaven and planted in the hearts of pastors João & Gena Carvalho. It is a story of faith and unlikely people who saw beyond impossibilities, believed, obeyed and saw the supernatural action of God.
In March 2014, with their two daughters and six people, and an adventure of faith and total obedience to God, the pastors saw their dream come true, as God had shown. Very quickly, this Portuguese community became a family of several nations by welcoming young people and families from different parts of the world. As a result, the celebrations began to be in Portuguese with translation into English and we have impacted not only the city, but beyond borders.
Mission
We exist to worship God, grow in faith, and transform ordinary people into true followers in fulfillment of the commandment “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
Our mission is to experience the love and presence of God and express His kingdom through the love of Jesus, the truth of the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, so that God's will may be accomplished here on earth as it is in Heaven.
Vision
Our vision is to be a relevant, dynamic and growing community of Spirit-filled Christians who love people and are empowered to draw them to Jesus and make them true disciples who will impact the city, the country and beyond.
